Chartered Membership (CPsychol)
The title of Chartered Psychologist is legally recognised and reflects only the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise.
Chartered membership provides a number of benefits, including:
- use of the title CPsychol and inclusion on the List of Chartered Members
- the opportunity to advertise in the Directory of Chartered Psychologists and/or join one of our Specialist Registers
- the exclusive use of the Chartered Psychologist logo
- Subscription to The Psychologist (print and digital)
- discounts on conferences and events
To be eligible for Chartered Membership you must have:

achieved at least a 2:2 on an undergraduate honours degree (recognised as meeting Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership) or have completed a society-accredited conversion qualification
Along with one of the following:

have undertaken society-accredited postgraduate qualifications and training
-
have appropriate postgraduate training and experience of teaching psychology
-
have completed psychology research to doctoral level

There are two routes available for non-USA applicants to apply for Chartered Membership.
Route 1 – Traditional Study
Applicants must:

hold a qualification, or a combination of qualifications, which provide eligibility for GBC
-
hold an additional postgraduate qualification in psychology at least equivalent to a USA masters degree
-
have relevant supervised training and experience undertaken outside the USA equivalent to USA professional doctorate level

Route 2 – Teaching/Research
Applicants must:

hold a qualification, or a combination of qualifications, which provide eligibility for GBC

Fees
Membership subscription is $134 per year plus a non-refundable application assessment fee of $41 for existing members, or $62 for non-members.
The society’s subscription year runs from January to December and future subscription payments are due in January regardless of when you first joined. A full year’s subscription is always required upon application. If you join between:

January – June: you will be charged the yearly rate which will all be allocated to this year’s subscription.

July – September: you will be charged the yearly rate but half the payment will be carried forward reducing the amount due from you for the following year.

October – December: your full payment will be allocated to the following year.
